What to visit

«La Corte dell'Oca» is a great starting point from which to make tourist day trips of the region to the city of Arezzo, the Casentino Valley, Valtiberina, Valdichiana, Valdarno and the cities of Florence, Siena, Perugia and Rome.
Arezzo
There are many events that distinguish Arezzo, which Piero della Francesca made famous by the legend of the True Cross in the Church of Saint Francesco. There are events such as the International Polyphonic Competition, the Joust of the Saracen, and the Antiques Fair, held on the last Saturday and first Sunday of each month. There are also many artistic attractions: the Basilica of Saint Francesco with the frescoes of Piero della Francesca; the Cathedral, next to Prato, offers a panoramic view of the valley; the Medici Fortress, recently excavated and restored; Piazza Grande and the Loggias of Vasari; Petrarch's house and the house of Vasari; the church of Saint Maria that houses a work of Lorenzetti Madonna and Saints; Basilica of Saint Domenico, which hosts the crucifix by Cimabue; Santissima Annunziata that has the works of Vasari. In the Cathedral you can admire the fresco of Piero della Francesca La Maddalena and the Chapel, dedicated to Madonna of Consolation, a place of worship for the entire diocese of Arezzo.

Arezzo is the location Roberto Benigni selected to film his big screen masterpiece Life is Beautiful.
Casentino
Casentino offers sites of history, art and nature departing from Subbiano. The discovery of the territory is various: Pieve a Socana, with an ancient church where you can find Etruscan relics, Poppi and the Castle of Conti Guidi, Stia with Palagio Fiorentino and Spa, Bibbiena with its splendid churches such as Santa Maria del Sasso; the Sanctuary de La Verna where you can enjoy a Franciscan tour; the Monastery of Camaldoli in the footsteps of St. Romuald, Montemignaio, with a historical research center, and the National Park of Casentino Forests that offers an oasis on the Alps of Catenaia.
Valtiberina
A path of arts and crafts will lead you to discover an interesting area of Anghiari, Monterchi, Sansepolcro and Caprese Michelangelo.

An artistic journey linked to Piero della Francesca, with some works collected in Pinacoteca of Sansepolcro, to Madonna of the Meadow in Monterchi, to the Battle of Anghiari, to local museums and to the birthplace of Michelangelo. This artistic path leads to Sansepolcro, to rediscover the lace, and to Anghiari, ancient looms for weaving, while these traditions invite us to the Palio of Balestra of Sansepolcro.
Valdichiana
A great departure point for areas rich in art and history, passing through Castiglion Fiorentino and its surrounding regions, then reaching Cortona with its ancient Etruscan mass, and a city of art with many works including those of Luca Signorelli and Fra Angelico in the Church of San Domenico. It is also the home of the Exhibition Market of antique furniture. Recommended is a visit to Lucignano for the perfectly preserved medieval structure that hosts the folkloric Maggiolata in the month of May.

Do not forget Monte San Savino who gave birth to the Sansovino and to whom we owe the appearance of the town where art and tradition is home to terracotta, the ancient earthenware. There is also the worship of the sanctuary of the Vertighe, as well as Gargonza, a small historical center loved by celebrities and a popular choice for national conferences. If you love the Carnival, visit Foiano, the country of Carnival, one of the first in Italy. Finally, a 30-minute drive will bring you to lovely Lake Trasimeno.
Valdarno
Valdarno is the valley where the river descends from the Casentino, turning at the city of Arezzo to reach the canals of Florence. Rich in history Valdarno boasts medieval villages that are little known outside traditional tourist routes. The villages of San Giovanni Valdarno, Montevarchi and Figline Valdarno join two other villages that are considered the most beautiful villages in Italy: Loro Ciuffenna and Castelfranco di Sopra.

San Giovanni Valdarno is perhaps most important for its history and for its significance in the valley. It is the home of the Masaccio palace. Among the wonders to see there are Palazzo d'Arnolfo and Basilica of Santa Maria delle Grazie. Montevarchi is proud of its Collegiata of Saint Lorenzo, the Museum of Sacred Art and the Paleontological Museum. The oldest water mill in Tuscany is in Loro Ciuffenna. Beneath the ridge of the mountain Pratomagno you can view the Balze of Valdarno.
