There are many events that distinguish Arezzo, which Piero della Francesca made famous by the legend of the True Cross in the Church of Saint Francesco. There are events such as the International Polyphonic Competition, the Joust of the Saracen, and the Antiques Fair, held on the last Saturday and first Sunday of each month. There are also many artistic attractions: the Basilica of Saint Francesco with the frescoes of Piero della Francesca; the Cathedral, next to Prato, offers a panoramic view of the valley; the Medici Fortress, recently excavated and restored; Piazza Grande and the Loggias of Vasari; Petrarch's house and the house of Vasari; the church of Saint Maria that houses a work of Lorenzetti Madonna and Saints; Basilica of Saint Domenico, which hosts the crucifix by Cimabue; Santissima Annunziata that has the works of Vasari. In the Cathedral you can admire the fresco of Piero della Francesca La Maddalena and the Chapel, dedicated to Madonna of Consolation, a place of worship for the entire diocese of Arezzo.
